Hi everybody! Last week I took Thursday and Friday off from work to visit my grandparents outside of Tampa, Florida. Whenever I take a vacation like this is always amazes me how hard it feels to extract myself from my everyday life, and then the scramble to “catch back up” when I return. The good news though, is that once I force it to happen, it is always a million times worth it! I had such a nice time visiting, and got some solid frolic-in-the-sun time in, which felt amazing. I also loved that I got a chance to dress up for a fun family dinner out (coming soon – Monday – to a blog near you…), as well as to chill in some easy casual clothes.
I’m not going to lie – I hesitated to share this look. It’s so… casual. But I actually decided that maybe this was the perfect outfit to share, after all. I think a lot of us truly believe that we must sacrifice comfort for style. Sometimes that is certainly the case, but I believe you have a choice. You can sacrifice comfort for style, but you don’t have to. And, you can continuously re-evaluate and change your mind. I might show up to the office in my heels, but if I’m still there at 10pm, well, you can bet I’ve changed into my slippers. Anyway, all this to say, I think its achievable to want to wear a really comfortable outfit, but to still be polished, stylish, and cute.
Enter: this look. We wanted to go for a walk before dinner. I wanted to throw something on and be comfortable on my walk. I also wanted to snap a few photos. I love that this bright, colorful top makes my cotton t-shirt choice look much more intentional (no stains, no problems). And, these floral shorts have been a staple in my wardrobe since I laid eyes on them a few years ago. I also can’t say enough good things about the “Dainty Ox” Converse. The sole is a little thinner than the classic and they’re just a little bit less clunky. I call it fashion.
What are your strategies for straddling the style/comfort line? Do you have any solid go-tos you’d recommend? Thanks so much for stopping by!
