Behold the emergence of one of my favorite summer style options, the romper. So easy to style, so comfortable, so chic. So impractical for going to the bathroom. But what in life doesn’t come with some tradeoffs?
I live on campus right now for the few remaining weeks of year one of business school (eek how time has flown!). It’s been a busy few days with exams, finalizing plans for the summer (which I’m super excited about by the way – I’ll do a proper post on that soon), and battling a little cold that’s been going around. I was talking to one of the beautiful people who keep this place running, and he asked me how I was doing. I made a joke that I had had a hard time getting my shoes tied that morning and without missing a beat he turned to me and said, “girl, you just gotta wear flip fops!” It cracked me up. But really, that is some golden advice. Just wear flip flops. I mean the literal version of that yes, especially as the weather improves, and you can see in these photos I chose to forgo those pesky laces. But even more so I mean that the figurative version of that advice is really amazing. Why make things harder for myself then they truly need to be? Why inject superfluous details that require a bow when all I really needed was something to protect the bottom of my feet? I do this all. the. time. I should probably stop. You know, give myself a break.
So it is in this interest that I chose this outfit. I pulled on the one piece that doesn’t show wrinkles or stains and doesn’t require any matching prowess at all, slipped on my shiny flip flops that I wear all the time (erm, sorry about that), grabbed my go-to tote and dumped the contents of my desk into it, and grabbed the denim jacket off the hook as I rushed out the door. It felt great. If you don’t have a chic summer go-to yet, I highly recommend getting on the search for a simple black romper and some flip flops. Let me know how it goes.
As always, thanks so much for stopping by, and good luck making the rest of this week a little lighter and a little simpler. Cheers!
