I’ve been chasing the last days of summer, thinking back on the warmth of days past. I realized, with great chagrin, that I didn’t make it to a single beach day this summer; not one. I think that means I’ve been working too hard. I should probably tell my boss that. And now that it’s about 55 degrees when I wake up in the morning, it feels like that opportunity has long past. Here’s to next summer, I suppose.
In the mean time, I’ll take advantage of every last drop of warmth. I pulled out this patterned skirt, which is a light silk fabric, to get one last wear in before I officially need to break out my tights in order to not freeze. I paired it with some sturdy, faithful black pumps (these shoes are amazing), and a blazer. To someone still building a closet of basics (see my last post on the beauty of basic pieces), I have two big take-aways to share. The first is to invest in a pair of pumps that you can wear for hours. I love Cole Haan because the shoes are not only beautiful, but also super comfortable. I can wear these all day long with no problem. I’ll even voluntarily wear them to the airport. Score. The second take-away is that blazers are a fail-safe way of making an outfit look more polished. They have instant transformational abilities, and it’s worth finding a simple black blazer to start your collection. I promise you’ll find a million occasions where it’s the perfect option.
Happy fall shopping to you all, and as always, thanks so much for reading!
