Hi everybody! Happy Monday! Don’t mind the almost blinding level of pale I am right now. I’ll get to work on that, stat.
If you follow me on Instagram then first, thank you, and second, you know I spent the weekend in San Francisco with my dad. It was great. We ate super well (highly recommend Frascati for some delish Italian in Nob Hill and Smitten for some tasty liquid nitrogen frozen ice cream) and very much enjoyed a visit to Alcatraz island (don’t miss the audio tour – it’s so well done it’s a little spooky!). We also felt totally treated by the amazing weather. Dad kept checking the weather and proclaiming how much colder it was in Maine (“It’s 12 degrees at home! And 70 here!”).
On Friday as I was packing up for the weekend I was rummaging in my closet (thinking to myself, “why do I have NOTHING to wear???”) and I stumbled across this denim jacket, neatly folded at the bottom of a pile of sweaters. I picked it up, gave it a quick once-over, and then dropped it in the pile of “maybes” where it ended up getting left behind. I kept thinking about it this weekend, though, since the weather was so nice that had I brought the extra layer I could have worn the sundress and given my legs the gift of sunshine. So since I couldn’t wear it this weekend I wore it today.
It had been a while since I’d styled a jean jacket, but it is just the perfect topper to a cute sundress, and an easy and chic spring go-to. It’s a great structured layer to put on top of any style of dress (flowy? check! structured? check!), and so versatile since denim goes with everything (except, err, more denim). Quick styling tip on the Madewell option if you’re interested – the version I own (which to be fair is old) runs short in the sleeves for whatever reason, so I end up wearing it always with the sleeves rolled. If that sounds annoying to you (and to be clear, if I were buying new it would sound annoying to me too – I dunno what college-age Caitlin was thinking), you might check out this budget-friendly option since from the pictures the sleeves look more appropriately sized.
Let me know if you end up investing in a new jean jacket for spring, whether the sleeves are long enough, and how you’re planning to wear it! As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
