Alright, who knows where today’s blog post title came from? Who can name that quote? Anybody….? Ok I’ll tell you. It’s Edna Mode (le duh). Full clip here (more targeted 45 second version here) but I warn you its a rabbit hole. Better not to go there probably. I may or may not have started watching all my favorite Incredibles clips as I started to write this and of course got hugely off track. Such a good movie. Nevertheless, Edna Mode, designer extraordinaire, knows her stuff. So I’m not wearing a cape. I’m just wearing a cape jacket. Shaped like one, looks like one, but technically, it isn’t one. I’m pretty sure Edna would approve.
I unfortunately snapped up this bad boy just as it was selling out, but I’ve linked a few beautiful similar options below. I’ve found this coat to be a super comfy and chic go-to over these winter months. It wouldn’t hold out as the optimal go-to in places with serious winters, but here in California (and for anywhere with temps usually above freezing) it’s perfect. It works so nicely over dresses (here) and is formal enough to wear on a night out over jeans (a la pictures above). I’ve even taken to wearing it to class some days with a cozy scarf and sneakers. It just has the magic power of looking polished, and it’s soo comfy, so what do you really expect me to do? Anyway, it’s been enough to convince me that while capes are not for super heroes (thank you for the lesson, Edna), cape jackets are a great idea for me. And probably you too.
What do you think? Do you own one? Would you consider it? Thanks so much for stopping by (and for humoring my love of the Incredibles)! Hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!
