Hi friends! Happy Monday! So excited to be back at it on a Monday like normal, and with a super exciting brand to tell you about.
I want to start by covering off quickly on the idea of sustainable fashion. It’s a relatively new concept for me, which I myself was surprised by. I recycle, I shut off the water while I brush my teeth, and I’m good about turning off the lights when I leave a room. I care about not being wasteful in so many aspects of my life, but for whatever reason, its not something I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about in the context of fashion. Anyway, the sustainable fashion movement is, at its core, a call to not be wasteful. So I’m not saying that I’ll never purchase from fast fashion again (nor am I in the business of shaming anyone who does), but I am starting to think about making sustainable choices in my fashion consumption just a little bit more. The best way is to make sure to give away your clothes when you’re done with them – never throw them out! And to only buy stuff you really want :)
Ok so mini-less aside, my Lovia story begins last March when I went to a Tech Fashion Week blogging meetup in San Francisco (it was a super cool event – read more here). I met a ton of super interesting, fun people, a few of whom I’ve kept in touch with. One of them was Anna, from Lovia. She told me all about her company then, and I’ve since drooled over their beautiful stuff and bugged her in waiting for this collaboration to materialize. I’m so grateful that it did!
The thing, first and foremost, that speaks to me about Lovia is the beauty of the products. Their stuff is truly stunning (exhibits A, B, and C – all on my personal wishlist). All of their materials are salvaged from other industries (most commonly food industry waste), and recycled into gorgeous products. With each item you purchase, you’re provided with the product “DNA” – a comprehensive description of each of the materials used in the item and where it came from. I love the mission of transparency and mindfulness, and I also think its just super fun and interesting to learn about.
The quality of the products is also super impressive. The leather is super soft and buttery, and thankfully scratch resistant (I’ve already put it through a few “bump” tests which I’m happy to report it gracefully survived, no scratches in sight), and the zipper is solid, heavy in the best way, and slides easily. Crappy zipper this is not. I love the cone jewel (it matches the earrings!) detail, and the texture of the leather is subtle but has garnered a million compliments already. The earrings are also super well made. Sturdy but lighter than expected, which means I don’t even notice them when I wear them (except when answering questions about them). They are so versatile and truly special, and they’ve become my daily go to in the short week and a half that I’ve owned them.
I feel so lucky to have the privilege of introducing Lovia to all of you! If you have thoughts or questions about Lovia specifically, or sustainable fashion as a whole, I’d love to chat about it! As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
