Hi everybody! Happy Thursday! Today I want to talk about work. Specifically, what to wear to work in the summer. It can be kind of difficult! It’s hot outside, bright, cheery, and sunny, and putting on the same black dress you wore all winter feels like a downer. A have a few strategies to address this one.
- Add color. A bright top, a statement necklace, or – even better – wear them together. I actually find that adding multiple colors at once intimidates a lot of people, but it shouldn’t! I mean, I like this look a lot better with the colors combined than I would with a simple delicate necklace. It’s interesting, its more fun, and it’s amazing how easy it really is to accomplish. Plus, you get credit for looking like you put some effort into your outfit, which is always nice.
- Add color to your top collection first. If you open the closet and stare at a sea of black, grey, and blush, don’t go out and buy turquoise pants. Trust me, you won’t wear them. Add color in your tops and sweaters. Work tops are often pretty versatile, and these colorful additions can do double duty with your jeans on the weekends in a way that your standard fare slacks cannot.
- Invest in a few skirts that you actually like. As with all work-wear posts, this advice is obviously highly subject to your office dress code. However, if you’re one of the lucky ones who doesn’t have to do business formal every day, this one’s for you. Invest in a few skirts that you feel comfortable in – they fit, they’re flattering, and you enjoy catching a glimpse in the mirror. These skirts can be rotated in along with your existing work wardrobe to help you feel like you’re changing it up a bit – you’re fresh just like the season.
Finding a good way to feel like you’ve embraced summer despite trekking to work every morning will seriously help you to enjoy the good weather while it lasts. These are my tips – what are yours? Thanks so much for stopping by!
