In (approximately) 68 days I will graduate from business school. I’ll be flung, ceremoniously, from the warm and welcoming palm-shaded paths of Stanford’s beautiful campus back into the cold and foggy concrete depths of the “real world,” aka San Francisco. Just shoot me now. Or, 67 days from now.
It is with this imminent departure of my fluffy lifestyle in mind that I have found myself thinking constantly about Tailored and True. If you’re new here, well hello and welcome, but if you’ve been around the block with me a time or two, you may have noticed that I’ve been silent since September of 2017. Oops. There’s a bit of a story there – email me if you’re curious – but I basically found myself awash with activity at school and a little burnt out from blogging. I simply let it slide… and then it kept sliding. All the way through my fall quarter at Stanford and beyond. Until, well, now.
At first the time off felt freeing. Blogging is SO much work! And I hadn’t been feeling inspired for at least a few months leading up to the break. For the first time since 2014 I wasn’t scrambling to keep up with the ambitious goals I set for myself, and I wasn’t battling with myself over fashion’s form of writer’s block. After fall quarter ended and things calmed down, not blogging anymore didn’t feel freeing. It felt kind of sad. I had lost my best creative outlet and the amazing community that comes with it (HI blogging friends!).
Over the past few weeks and months, I started thinking about picking blogging back up. But the time away provided some much-needed perspective, and I quickly realized that simply writing a style blog was no longer authentic to who I am. While I still LOVE fashion, clothing, and putting outfits together, what I feel truly passionate about is developing a successful career and all of the amazing privileges that come with it for myself and other women everywhere (much more on that to come!). I want to spread the amazing knowledge I’ve gained at business school and through the working experiences I’ve had with other ambitious and hard-working women, and to help us all develop the confidence and competence we need to achieve our goals.
With that, I announce the re-launch of Tailored and True as a women’s workwear and career advancement blog. I fundamentally believe that developing a personal style that you believe in translates to a substantial confidence boost as well as respect, trust, and opportunity at work, and this blog will continue to think through related fashion trials and tribulations. I will share workwear posts and other relevant outfit inspiration, and I will pair that visual content with posts about the challenges we face as working women and the best advice and learnings I can find on how to overcome.
My dream is to create a shared space where working women can come together to find community, empathy, and support in conquering their next challenge and taking their next step forward. For all elements across a working woman’s life, I want Tailored and True to become a resource and a trusted friend.

I’m so excited about this next chapter of Tailored and True, and I’m ready to set out on this journey together. Questions? Comments? Concerns? PLEASE reach out! I want to know what content is missing in your life and where you are searching for support, camaraderie, and community. I also want to hear what’s going on in your lives, the types of advice you find most salient, and anything you want to know about me.
